 PROFITS ACCELERATE AT AVIS             

                                        

 Avis Europj rolled out its last set of 

 results as a private company before    

 next month's stock market flotation.   

                                        

 Profits before tax and interest        

 !ccelerated 20.5% to £101.5m, up from  

 £83.7m for 1995 on turnover of £511.52m

                                        

 The listing on London's stock market on

 April 4 will see Avis return to the    

 stock market after an absence of eight 

 years and will value it at around £700m
