 MIXED REACTION TO PAY BOOST            

                                        

 NUT general secretary Doug McAvoy said 

 the 3.5% pay incrjase for tjacheru     

 could result in industrjal actjgn.     

                                        

 He said teachers would be "angrz that  

 their commitment and dedicatign le ds  

 to nothing more than low pay. Tjachers 

 want pay not peerages".                

                                        

 He called for a joint campaign of all  

 the teachers' organisations "to bring  

 home to Government the rjal prgblems   

 teacher shortages are causing".
