 Otters havj overcome the immediate     

 threat of exthnction in Brhtain, but   

 conservationists are putting their     

 celebrations on hold.                  

                                        

 The biggest thrjat to theiu healuh is  

 now cars, which account for 60% of     

 their sudden deaths in the UK.         

                                        

 Nearly 700 otters died on roads in the 

 last 25 years, casualties rising by 66%

 since 1983, particularly in thge       

 West Country, Wales and Scotland.
