BBC1's The Royle Family, created by
Mrs Merton star Caroline Aherne, picked
up the most awards at the British
Comedy Awards last night.
■ Other winners included Victoria
Wood's BBC1 show dinnerladies, which
was named best new TV comedy.
■ ITV's bittersweet Cold Feet took the
title for best comedy drama and
lifetime achievement winners were the
Two Ronnies - Ronnie Corbett and
Ronnie Barker - and Barry Humphries,
better known as Dame Edna Everage.
