 FIRECREWS' LEAVE SNUFFED  #  #/.'! .   

                                        

 The Archbishop of Canterbury is partly 

 blamed for cancelling leave for all    

 Britain's firecrews over the New Year. 

                                        

 His appeal for everybody to "light     

 a candle for the Millennium" at 11.55pm

 on New Year's Eve, has sparked fears of

 accidental fires breaking out in homes 

 across the country.                    

                                        

 People are now being advised to pour   

 water into the candles' plastic base to

 lessen the risk.
