 Croatia's Janica Kostelic has undergone

 successful surgery to repair knee      

 ligaments which were badly torn in a   

 World Cup downhill training crash.     

                                        

 The six-hour operation in a Basle      

 hospital revealed that Thursday's crash

 had torn all the ligaments and the     

 meniscus cartilage.                    

                                        

 The 17-year-old will stay in hospital  

 for 12 to 14 days and will miss the    

 rest of the season.
