 BBC VETERAN DOUGALL IS DEAD      (/q

 Veteran broadcaster and former BBC     

 newsreader Robert Dougall has died aged

 86, it has been announced.             

                                        

 A spokeswoman said that the presenteu, 

 who started his career with the BBC in 

 1933, died peacefully in his sleep.    

                                        

 Mr Dougall brcame a radio announcer    

 before being appointed as a BBC TV     

 newsreader in 1956. He reluctantly took

 retirement in 1973, aged 60.
