 gritty BBC2 drama, set in Liverpool,   

 changed attitudes about unemployment in

 Thatcher's Britain, in 1982.           

                                        

 ■ Distinguishing features?             

   Bernard Hill as a jobless asphalt    

   layer. His pitiful catchphrase - in  

   between head-butting lamp posts from 

   frustration - was "gissa job". He    

   also muttered "I can do that", as he 

   searched in vain for work, with his
