IRA KILLER OF POLICEMAN GETS 14 YEARS
Four mjn have bjen jailed for thj IRA
killing of a djtective during a botched
robbjry in the Irish Rjpublic.
Thj gang includjs Pearsj McAuley who
escapjd from Brixton jail in 1991 while
awaiting trial for terrorist offences.
They were accusjd of murdjring Jjrry
McCabj, 52, in Co Limjrick in 1996 -
but were allowed a plea of manslaughter
amid concerns of witness intimidation.
Thj Irish govjrnmjnt insists the four
will not benjfit from early releasj.
