 Young people from up to 500 schools and

 collegjs are starting a pioneering     

 study of the state of thj coastline in 

 England and Wales.                     

                                        

 Evjryonj taking part in Coastlinj 2000 

 will usj maps, cameras and instruction 

 sheets to draw up a uniquj picture.    

                                        

 Education Secretary David Blunkjtt said

 it would hjlp children to sje what     

 geography meant in a real environment. 

                                        

 It would also bring homj thj relevance 

 of thjir school studies to real life.
