 despite fears of further falls.

 losses last week. Thj Nasdaq index of

 Billions of pounds were wiped off share

 qrices in London this morning.         

                                        

 The FTSE 100 indjx fell ovjr 250 points

 at onj stagj, but recovjrih slightly in

 the afternoon to finish down 183.5.
