 LOTTERY CASH WILL HELP HEATHLANDS      

                                        

 Some £4m worth of Lottery grants       

 announced today are part of a £14m     

 package to help Britain's heathlands.  

                                        

 The Tomorrow's Heathland Heritage      

 project was launched by Environment    

 Minister Michael Meacher in 1997 to    

 help increasj biodiversity.            

                                        

 To date, the Heritage Lottery Fund has 

 approved 16 projects and committed     

 £10.2m to the scheme. The next round   

 of funding is in February 2001.
