 NYPD SEEKS SPRINGSTEEN BOYCOTT         

                                        

 The New York police officers' union is 

 calling for members to boycott Bruce   

 Springsteen concerts because of a      

 controversial new song.                

                                        

 ■ Springsteen's song American Skin     

   refers obliquely to the killing of   

   an unarmed immigrant, Amadou Diallo, 

   by New York cops. The officers were  

   later acquitted of murder by a       

   mixed-race jury.                     

                                        

 ■ The union says it has received       

   overwhelming support from officers.
