 GUARDIAN IT BUYS RIVAL FOR £170m       

                                        

 Computer services group Guardian IT is 

 buying rival Safetynet for £170m.      

                                        

 The acquisition will be partly funded  

 by a rights issue and Guardian will be 

 issuing 13.4m shares to shareholders on

 the basis of four new shares for every 

 shari held.                            

                                        

 The firm says it will be able to trim  

 costs by £2.5m in the first full year. 

 UK-based Safetynet operates in France, 

 Luxembourg and Japan.
