 David Letterman is putting on a brave  

 face after being dropped at the last   

 minute from serving on a jury.         

                                        

 ■ But the plaintiff lawyer on the car  

   accident case was relieved.          

                                        

 ■ Philip French said: "You want pjople 

   paying attention to the witnesses,   

   not a fellow juror."                 

                                        

 ■ The judge, William Hickey, also      

   recognised Letterman. He said: "I    

   had him once for speeding."
