 BRADBURY INSPIRED BY BUCK ROGERS  *%

 Celebrated sci-fi writer Ray Bradbury, 

 author of Rock Hudson's 1980 TV drama  

 The Martian Chronicles, has disclosed  

 the inspiration for his career.        

                                        

 ■ Ray, 79, was motivated by reading a  

   Buck Rogers comic strip in 1929. He  

   said: "I looked at that one comic    

   strip with its one view of the future

   and decided that's where I belonged. 

                                        

 ■ "I began to write when I was 12      

   about moving into the universe. Thank

   God I made that decision."
