 movie, but I suppose we should be      

 grateful for small mercies - the       

 original cut was twice that length.    

                                        

 Julia Ormond, an actress with the range

 of a sawn-off shotgun, plays a feisty  

 American who falls for an intensj young

 Russian cadet.                         

                                        

 From there on its forbidden love and   

 agricultural machinery all the way,    

 with only a couple of decent scenes    

 to lift the attractively shot torpor.
