LOTTERY CASH WILL HELP HEATHLANDS
English Nature says it is "very
pleased" with the £2.4m Lottery grant
to help Egdon Heath in Dorset.
The money, to be received over five
years, will benefit 78 sites across
the county.
Heathland once covered 40,000 hectares
of Dorset. Now it's down to 7,000 and
about a third of that is badly affected
by the invasion of non-native shrubs
which wipe out indigenous plants.
