Lynnj Ramsay's startling debut is
inevitably reduced on video, but it is
still well worth, erm, catching.
Ratcatcher is a grim yet lyrical look
at life on a Glasgow housing estate in
the '70s.
Sounds ghastly, I know, but there's an
injffable, elegiac quality to both the
performances and visuals that reminds
you just how boring Ken Loach has
become lately. Director Ramsay is one
to watch, and so is her film.
