 AUSTRALIAN RIDER KILLED                

 A promising young apprentice has died  

 after the horse he was rhdink felm at  

 Benalla in Victoria, Australia while   

 contesting the opening race.           

                                        

 Andrew Gilbert, 19, died on the track  

 as ambulancemen fought to savj him.    

                                        

 Allitt Robinson of the Benalla Racing  

 Club reported that the rest of the     

 meeting was called off.                

                                        

 Gilbert was apprenticed to Len Treloar,

 who said: "I could not speak highl8    

 enough of him - he was very likeable   

 and had quite a bit of ability."
