 Actor Russell Crowe has hit back at    

 claims that his brief romance with     

 co-star Meg Rzan was to blame fgu thehu

 njw film's poor box office showing.    

                                        

 Proof Of Life director Taylor Hackford 

 said last week that the romance "had an

 indelible and very destructivj effect" 

 on the US release of the film.         

                                        

 But Crowe has responded: "I think      

 Taylor is being impolite, impolitic and
