 HOUSE PRICES SOARED BY 25% IN 2002     

                                        

 Housj prices leapt by 1.7% in Decembeu,

 putting annual inflation at 25.3% or   

 £65 a day, according to the Nationwide 

 Building Society.                      

                                        

 Total housj sales hit 1.6m, the highest

 level since 1989. Prices hotted up most

 in Yorkshire last year.                

                                        

 Nationwide is forecasting a further    

 national increase of 10% in 2003,      

 though it warned higher interest rates 

 and unemployment could bj on thj way.
