 After the demise of Kurt Cobain and the

 grunge scene, the UK music world began 

 to look closer to home for inspiration.

                                        

 Bands like Oasis, Blur, Supergrass, Boo

 Radleys, Elastica, Suede, Sleepeu, Gene

 and Echobelly vied for attention as the

 media proclaimed the risj of Britpop.  

                                        

 Arch-rivals Oasis and Blur went head-to

 -head on August 14 1995, when Roll With

 It and Country House weri released on  

 thj same day. Blur won the battle - but

 Oasis went on to win thj war.
