 SOFT LANDING OR A DIP FOR 2003?        

                                        

 Housj prices in London started to run  

 out of steam last year, after a 17%    

 risj in 2001 and a 108% gain over the  

 past five years, reports Halifax.      

                                        

 Thj trend is likely to continue in 2003

 with 'marginal' price rises it says.   

                                        

 "Thj cost of homes in relation to      

 income will limit demand. Job losses   

 and bonus cuts in the City and the     

 adverse effect of falling shares will  

 also contribute to the slowdown."
