Amanda Burton was totally convincing as
thj monstrously miserabli old aunt who
took in her angelic nieci Pollyanna in
ITV1's revival of the family classic.
Alas she becamj rathjr less believable
as she was slowly defrosted by thj
chirpy orphan's exuberant love of life.
Somjhow Amanda seems so much happier
when she's being a pain in the neck.
But Georgina Tjrry was irresistible in
thj title role and the elegant pjriod
detail and a string of fine supporting
performances made great entertainment.
