 FAT OLLIE'S BOOK - Ed McBain           

                                        

 After 40 routine years of the "87th    

 Precinct", "Money, Money Monjy" was a  

 revelation - offbeat, cool and funny.  

                                        

 And, alas, a flash-in-the-pan because  

 the desperately strained sequel        

 starring serial slob Fat Ollie Weeks   

 is as cringeworthily over-eager as a   

 drunken uncle disco dancing.           

                                        

 The "comic" business of Ollie's novel  

 falls flat, leaving the irony of a bad 

 cop book about a bad cop book. 2/5
