 Pressure on for total smoke ban        

 Health campaign groups and MPs are     

 increasing calls on the government to  

 wipe out smoking completely in all     

 enclosed public places.                

                                        

 It follows earlier news that the       

 government was set to drop plans for a 

 partial ban covering pubs and bars     

 which did not serve food.              

                                        

 But the Cabinet did not discuss the    

 issue on Thursday, said a spokesman.   

                                        

 MPs and peers from all three major     

 political parties have urged the prime 

 minister to issue an all-out ban.
