Ljungberg nears new Arsenal deal
Arsenal midfielder Freddie Ljungberg is
set to sign a new contract at Highbury.
Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is confident
the Swede will put pen to paper before
the start of the Premiership season and
described a fresh deal as "99% there".
"I'm very pleased because we lost
Patrick Vieira and we could not afford
to lose many players," Wenger told the
club website. "Stability is important."
The 28-year-old, who has one year left
on his present deal, joined Arsenal for
£3m from Halmstads in September 1998.
