Cash appeal answered for railway
Supporters of a railway line in the
Yorkshire Dales have raised £75,000 to
help secure its future.
In June, the Wensleydale Railway
Company said it was facing a cash
crisis and needed to raise £100,000 or
risk suspending services.
Managers of the small, privately run
line between Leeming Bar and Redmire,
said the response so far was an amazing
demonstration of support for the line.
The company originally raised £1.2m to
reopen the 17-mile route in 2003.
