 Tokyo Market Report                    

 (Close): Japanese shares closed higher 

 on Wednesday as technology shares rose 

 on the back of a lower yen and gains in

 US hi-tech shares.                     

                                        

 Among the gainers were chipmaker       

 Advantest, which rose more than 2% to  

 8,690 yen on strong quarterly results. 

                                        

 Sony, the consumer electronics firm,   

 rose 20 to 3,835 yen.                  

                                        

 The Nikkei rose 97.12 points or 0.83%  

 to 11,835.08, breaking through 11,800  

 for the first time since 8 April. The  

 Topix index rose 0.4% to 1,198.97.
