 POORER TEENAGERS TO RECEIVE £12        

 Teenagers from poor families in England

 are set to receive up to £12 a month to

 spend on sports and other activities.  

                                        

 The funding will come via credits on   

 smart cards which can be redeemed      

 against local leisure services, drama  

 clubs and art or dance classes.        

                                        

 Children's Minister Beverley Hughes    

 said this should give young people from

 deprived backgrounds more opportunities

                                        

 Young people will be able to earn extra

 credits for voluntary work or good     

 discipline at school.
