DEAF FEEL VULNERABLE ON THE TUBE
Deaf people often feel vulnerable and
unsafe when using pualic transport in
London because emergency procedures
rely on audible information.
This was the finding of a new report
Transport for All by the RNID.
The report found nearly two fifths of
deaf and hard of hearing people felt
vulnerable when using the Underground.
Nearly ten per cent had been trapped in
the doors of tube trains because they
could not hear the noise the doors make
when closing.
