 OLDER PEOPLE AT RISK FROM FALLS        

 Around 90% of older people know they   

 are at risk from falls but less than   

 half take any specific measures to     

 prevent it.                            

                                        

 This is the finding of new research    

 from Help the Aged.                    

                                        

 Falling is the most common cause of    

 accidental death !mong older people,   

 with one person dying every five hours 

 in the UK after falling at home.       

                                        

 It causes around 36,000 serious        

 injuries each year at a cost of £981m  

 to the Government.
