 The Pollen Index is calculated for the 

 BBC by the National Pollen Research    

 Unit.                                  

                                        

 Tree pollen affects about 25% of hay   

 fever sufferers. The grass pollen      

 season runs from the middle of May     

 through to the end of July, and affects

 about 95% of hay fever sufferers.      

                                        

 Symptons may start when the index is   

 low, and will affect all hay fever     

 sufferers when the index is high or    

 above.
