 MOST FALLS ARE N/T INEVITABLE          

 Pamela Holmes, Preventing Falls        

 Programme Manager at Help the Aged said

                                        

 "Our research shows there is a very    

 clear gap between perception and       

 reality when it comes to falls."       

                                        

 "We need to shake off this image of    

 falls being an inevitable part of      

 getting older and recognise that it is 

 a problem that can be largely avoided."

                                        

 Only 44% of those asked said they take 

 any specific measures to prevent       

 themselves falling compared to 91% who 

 protect themselves against burglary.
