The Dutch NRC Handelsblad says an
Amsterdam court was right to jail
Mohammed Bouyeri for life for the
murder of film-maker Theo van Gogh.
It says the judges could not apply the
principle that every convict should
have a hope of returning to society.
"The Dutch can no longer ignore the
fact that terrorism has arrived in
their midst," says the German Die Welt.
"Their liberal and tolerant society has
often defended its own values too
passively," it adds.
