 THROPE BEMUSED WITH SELECTORS          

                                        

 Graham Thorpe still feels baffled as to

 why England's selectors felt he and    

 Kevin Pietersen were fighting for one  

 batting spot in the first Ashes Test.  

                                        

 Thorpe, who retired as a result, said: 

 "People said Kevin got picked over me. 

 To me that's complete hogwash.         

                                        

 "To others it was obvious it should    

 have been a choice between Ian Bell and

 myself. The selectors seemed to have a 

 fair bit of spin on the situation."
