 The late Ronnie Barker spent five years

 in the role of Norman Stanley Fletcher 

 in prison sitcom Porridge.             

                                        

 Iconic character Fletcher had been     

 sentenced to five years in Slade Prison

 and got up to humorous antics with     

 cellmate Lennie Godber and prison      

 wardens Mr MacKay and Mr Barrowclough. 

                                        

 A film was made in 1979 and a sequel   

 series, Going Straight, followed the   

 characters after their release.
