 Stuart Pearce hailed Joey Barton after 

 he starred in the 2-0 win over Everton 

 despite having only one training       

 session following his ankle injury.    

                                        

 The midfielder, who was injured against

 Bolton two weeks ago, stepped into the 

 City team after Claudio Reyna reported 

 a stiff neck prior to kick-off.        

                                        

 Pearce said: "You must give him credit 

 for the way he performed because he had

 not trained all week before Saturday."
