 In this formulaic rags-to-riches tale  

 Mexican-American Santiago (Kuno Becker)

 wins a trial at Newcastle United where 

 he must prove he's got what it takes to

 make it big in the beautiful game.     

                                        

 A laughably cheesy plot, but the movie 

 is slickly directed by Danny Cannon and

 actually rather entertaining.          

                                        

 Anna Friel is the local love interest, 

 while David Beckham makes a cameo as   

 himself. Annette Dasey's verdict: 3/5
