 Anastasia Myskina announced that she   

 would be stepping down from Russian Fed

 Cup duty after beating Stephanie       

 Gehrlein to move into the second round.

                                        

 "I've won it twice. I'm really happy to

 have done that," she said. "We have so 

 many good girls who can play I want to 

 step aside and let them have a chance."

                                        

 Myskina, seeded eight in Germany,      

 defeated home hope Gehrlein 6-1 6-4    

 despite some mixed second-set form.
