The two-man sketch was the hallmark of
The Two Ronnies' comedy output. Perhaps
the most famous of all was called The
Hardware Shop.
Barker enters the shop wearing a
scruffy top and woolly hat. He asks for
"four candles". Corbett replies "four
candles?" and fetches a box of candles.
"No, fork 'andles! 'Andles for forks!"
says Barker. They go through the shop's
stock - "Ose"? Not "hose" but "Os for
the gate - 'Mon Repose'" says Barker.
