 Rex Bloomstein laments that most       

 participants in Kids Behind Bars were  

 not optimistic about their futures.    

                                        

 "The odds are steeply against them," he

 says. "Statistics say two-thirds of    

 them will reoffend within two years.   

                                        

 "Often they go back into the same      

 circumstances from which they came. The

 answers lie in our ability to offer    

 more hope to young people, but in the  

 end, they have to decide to change."
