 A MILLION 'IGNORE' CHILD TRUST FUND    

                                        

 Around 889,000 Child Trust Fund (CTF)  

 accounts have been opened since the    

 scheme launched in April 2005.         

                                        

 This represents 46% of all vouchers    

 sent to eligible parents, according to 

 HM Revenue & Customs.                  

                                        

 Although there are still many parents  

 yet to open a CTF account, the gap did 

 narrow between May and August. Around  

 390,000 new accounts were opened, a    

 rise of 75% from the prior period.
