 It was always going to be hard to      

 better the fascinating story of The    

 Ring for this sequel but the director  

 of the Japanese originals, Hideo       

 Nakata, has almost equalled the scares.

                                        

 The curse returns to Rachel (Naomi     

 Watts) when her son (David Dorfman) is 

 haunted by the girl at its centre.     

                                        

 Chilling, with lots of jumps, but the  

 story, which focuses on how the curse  

 came about, can't sustain the film's   

 over-long running time.
