 I WAS A PERRIER COMEDY AWARD JUDGE     

                                        

 Over 250 comedy and cabaret shows were 

 eligible for the Perriers. The judging 

 panel of 10 saw them all. I saw over   

 70 comedy shows (and also 50 straight  

 plays) in three weeks.                 

                                        

 At our first meeting, we thinned this  

 huge list down to a couple of dozen    

 shows on our longlist. Most were easy  

 to discard but decisions got tougher.  

                                        

 We then had to ensure the whole panel  

 had seen all these shows by the next   

 stage.
