New chart star Rihanna may have a sexy,
grown-up sound, but at 17 she's just a
wee nipper.
Up until a year ago she was a
schoolgirl living in Barbados and had
never sung professionally in her life.
"I used to sing in the shower and in
front of the mirror, but I wasn't a
known singer," she sez. "I did one
talent show at my high school, and I
won it singing Mariah Carey's Hero."
