 CLARKE ATTACKS IRAQ POLICY    /# `{~%

 Tory leadership hopeful Kenneth Clarke 

 has insisted that joining the war in   

 Iraq was a "catastrophic error".       

                                        

 Setting out his stall for leading the  

 party, he said he would not however    

 immediately withdraw UK troops as it   

 would be wrong to leave Iraq in chaos. 

                                        

 The former Chancellor added Tony Blair 

 had also "made Britain one of the      

 foremost targets for Islamic           

 extremists" by taking part in the war.
