 HALIFAX TAKES ACTION TO CUT QUEUES     

                                        

 The Halifax is testing a scheme to cut 

 queue lengths by deterring certain     

 customers at 20 London branches from   

 using counter services, it has emerged.

                                        

 Those with Card Cash accounts have been

 asked to conduct their banking through 

 cash machines, by phone or by internet.

                                        

 Halifax said those who did use counter 

 service would be shown other available 

 technologies at the branch. Queue times

 have been cut from 20 minutes to five.
