 CRITICAL ILLNESS COVER CLAIMS 'MISLEAD'

                                        

 Consumers are misled by firms using    

 scaremongering tactics and misleading  

 information to promote critical illness

 cover, claims the City watchdog.       

                                        

 The Financial Services Authority says  

 the cover, which pays out a lump sum if

 the holder develops a serious disease, 

 was not fully understood in many cases.

                                        

 Despite this, a review of advertising  

 by 25 providers pretended what is a    

 complex cover was actually very simple.
